The tomographic imaging problem deals with reconstructing an objectfrom a data called a projections and collected by illuminating the objectfrom many different directions. A projection means the information derivedfrom the transmitted energies, when an object is illuminated from a particularangle. The solution to the problem of how to reconstruct an object fromits projections dates to 1917 by Radon. The tomographic reconstructingis applicable in many interesting contexts such as nondestructive testing, image processing, electron microscopy, data security, industrial tomographyand material sciences.Discete tomography (DT) deals with the reconstruction of discret objectfrom limited number of projections. The projections are the sums along fewangles of the object to be reconstruct. One of the main problems in DTis the reconstruction of binary matrices from two projections. In general, the reconstruction of binary matrices from a small number of projections isundetermined and the number of solutions can be very large. Moreover, theprojections data and the prior knowledge about the object to reconstructare not sufficient to determine a unique solution. So DT is usually reducedto an optimization problem to select the best solution in a certain sense. In this thesis, we deal with the tomographic reconstruction of binaryand colored images. In particular, research objectives are to derive thecombinatorial optimization techniques in discrete tomography problems.PARIS-CNAM (751032301) / SudocSudocFranceF

Approximating bicolored images from discrete projections
We study the problem of reconstructing bicolored images from their discrete projections that is the number of pixels of each color lying on each row and column. The problem is well known to be NP- complete so, we study a restricted case (with bounded projections) and present an approximating algorithm based on a max-flow technique for the general case
A simulated annealing for reconstructing hv-convexe binary matrices
We consider a variant of the NP-hard problem of reconstructing hv-convex binary matrices from two projections. This variant is reformulated as an integer programming problem and approximated by simulated annealing approach
Hybridation of genetic algorithms and tabu search for reconstructing convex binary images from discrete orthogonal projections
In this paper, we consider a variant of the NP-Complete problem ofreconstructing hv-convex binary images from two orthogonal projections, noted byRCBI(H; V ). This variant is reformulated as a new integer programming problem.Since this problem is NP-complete, a new hybrid optimization algorithm combiningthe techniques of genetic algorithms and tabu search methods, noted by GATS isproposed to find an optimal or an approximate solution for RCBI(H; V ) problem.GATS starts from a set of solutions called 'population' initialized by using anextension of the network flow model, incorporating a cost function. Two operators, namely crossover and mutation are used to explore the search space, then the quality of each individual in the population is improved by using another local search method named Tabu Search operator. In this paper we describe the proposed algorithm, then we evaluate and compare its performance with other optimization techniques. The analysis of the experimental results shows the advantages of our GATS approach in terms of reconstruction quality and computational time
